If you have ever heard this question posed before on whether a person is born into something like being a "born leader" or a "born salesperson"…. I would argue that the human mind is powerful and a person can decide to be anything they want in life if they are committed to it. If you can believe it, you can achieve it. Motivation and Attitude are closely related and one thing a person can do to insure 100% success in life is to wake up with a positive attitude every day. If your mind goes negative it immediately shuts down possibilities and that thought track will ruin your ability to reach goals.
As I look into 2018 and put the first week of January in the books, I realize it is an important time of year. In my professional life, my goal is to maximize productivity during the first quarter of the calendar year to get out of the gate strong and set the tone for a successful year and earnings cycle. It all starts with goal setting, planning, and taking some time to reflect on both success and failure from previous the year. Being a true sales professional, I know my numbers inside and out down to a science. I know exactly what I need to do on a daily basis to hit my goals. One of the most important things a professional salesperson can do to insure success is to do the little things every day. Know exactly what “it” is on a daily basis and commit to doing it. My “it” happens to be maintaining a positive attitude and "honoring the golden hours" which mainly means that from 8:00-5:00, I am committed and focused and try to maximize as much productivity as possible. Believe it or not, occasionally I do work beyond the golden hours but would rather not because if you can’t be extremely successful from 8-5 your approach or career fit is wrong and you will end up sacrificing family and quality of life in my opinion.
People aren't naturally born into anything. It all starts with work ethic, attitude and motivation. If you have all three of these things and reasonable intelligence, you won’t fail. Above all, make a conscious effort to shut down negative thoughts and think about things you need to do on a daily basis to reach your goals in 2018. If you put it down on paper and commit to excellence, you won't fail and success breeds success. You will keep your motivation elevated to levels higher than you can imagine and your bank account and career will thank you for it.
